www.pwinsider.com/article/158263/hhh-on-nxt-changes-austins-last-match-sheiksteiner.html?p=1HHH ON NXT CHANGES, AUSTIN’S LAST MATCH, SHEIK/STEINER | PWInsider.com By Dave Scherer on 2022-04-26 12:21:00 You can send us questions for the PWInsider.com Q and A at pwinsider@gmail.com. What do you think finally got Steve Austin to agree to having one more match on this particular Wrestlemania… as opposed to Wrestlemania 32, which was also in Dallas and probably could have used him more due to all the injured talent. Or Wrestlemania 29 at Met Life, when CM Punk was pushing hard for a match. Or Wrestlemania 25, which was in Houston TX and the the year Austin was going into the hall of fame. What made this the Wrestlemania to finally put the boots on? If I had to guess, the stars just aligned this year. He felt good and wanted to do it, and Dallas was the place he wanted to do it in. My guess is he was just in the right place in his life to do it. One of Jim Cornette’s opinions on AEW these days is that everybody who came from NXT (Keith Lee, Undisputed Era) has been booked a LOT worse than when they were booked on NXT. Do you agree? I have talked about this on audio recently. At this point in time, I understand why he hasn’t brought in WWE/NXT talent and booked that on the level of or superior to his talent. I think his fan base would reject that as it would make his talent seem secondary. Bryan Danielson? Sure, you can book him strongly since he is a made man and all. And even at that, he didn’t beat the champ. Guys like the UE? I am OK with them losing at first. Now? They are AEW guys so I want to see them built up in the AEW ecosystem. How great would it be to see Scott Steiner and the Iron Sheik together with live mics? I would pay money for that one. A lot of people say AEW can't touch WWE or even come close (which is untrue) mainly because WWE runs large indoor arenas/outdoor stadiums and AEW run shows in smaller buildings. My question is do you think it's a smart idea for Tony Khan to run AEW shows in smaller arenas that potentially could sell out as opposed to trying to risk booking a larger arena say like the Garden only to fill it less than a quarter full? Also do you think AEW could potentially hold regular weekly shows in large arenas or do you think it would be smarter to keep doing what they are now and "build up" to working bigger arenas on a regular basis? First, remember that they did sell out Arthur Ashe Stadium and that is a huge building. With that said, I think it’s a smarter business move to put 7 or 8 thousand people in a 10,000 seat building than doing the same in a 20,000 seat arena. Financially, it costs more to run the bigger place and aesthetically you want to appear to have a bigger crowd. I read the transcript from HHH about NXT changes. Do you buy it or is he just towing the company line? I would think given how much he loved the NXT that he created, I don’t think he would want to change it to what it is now. So my take is that he is being a good company man.
