www.pwinsider.com/article/158074/the-ecw-title-belt-that-was-never-recovered-terry-funk-a-sabu-retirement-ceremony-and-more.html?p=1THE ECW TITLE BELT THAT WAS NEVER RECOVERED, TERRY FUNK, A SABU RETIREMENT CEREMONY AND MORE | PWInsider.com By Mike Johnson on 2022-04-23 10:00:00 With wrestling title belt collecting being as hot as it is among collectors, it made me wonder if the old ECW TV title belt from the original company ever resurfaced? The ECW World Television championship was stolen out of the locker room of their final event at the Elks Lodge in Queens, NY in December 2000 and to my knowledge, has never been seen again. There were those who were there around ECW at the time who suspected who the culprit was but there's never been a reveal of who it actually was and to the best of my knowledge, the belt, if it even still exists, has never surfaced in the belt collecting community to the best of my knowledge. Any word on Terry Funk and whether he'd ever wrestle again? We are told that since he's moved into an assisted living community, Funk has been doing better. I am told that if you talk with him about his career, he is still as sharp as he ever was in recounting stories but he needed to be somewhere where he wasn't alone day to day at this point. I don't know you will find someone who truly wishes they could see Funk wrestle again more than yours truly, but it will never happen and it should never happen. He's beyond the point of being able to do that and if anyone deserves some peace and quiet and a many years of doting over grandchildren, it's Terry Funk. Do you think we'll see a Sabu retirement match or ceremony? I don't know that we'd see a retirement match, although I guess Sabu could run around and just stab someone with a spike like the Original Sheik did, but I think his personal pride wouldn't allow for that. I really like the idea of a retirement ceremony at somewhere like the 2300 Arena, where he was one of the men who truly put that place on the map. He's already in their Hall of Fame but perhaps they could name one of the locker rooms after him or something like that. Impact Wrestling being at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center always makes me think of the WWF Land of A Thousand Dances video. Have you ever been to that venue and been on the stage? I have. It's probably one of the few buildings from that era that is not only still standing but is in use and hasn't had a major renovation. I've been at the venue a number of times over the years and it always has a great ambiance and atmosphere. Did I really just hear you and Dave talk about how some guy told you were didn't know what you were talking about when it came to Steve Austin's career after he wrote you a Q&A submission and didn't like your response. Did anyone bother to tell him you were all OVER the Steve Austin Biography documentary on A&E as a WRESTLING EXPERT? It was pretty funny to me, too. I think you said all that needed to be said.

www.pwinsider.com/article/158176/kanellisbennett-cruise-team-up-again-for-exciting-new-womens-wrestling-project.html?p=1KANELLIS-BENNETT & CRUISE TEAM UP AGAIN FOR EXCITING NEW WOMEN’S WRESTLING PROJECT | PWInsider.com By Scott Hurley on 2022-04-23 08:38:00 PRESS RELEASE April 22, 2022 For Immediate Release KANELLIS-BENNETT & CRUISE TEAM UP AGAIN FOR EXCITING NEW WOMEN’S WRESTLING PROJECT As a direct result of the many accolades garnered, in regard to, Ring of Honor’s Women’s Division in 2021, the producers of that content, wrestling celebrity Maria Kanellis-Bennett and long-time ROH Ring Announcer Bobby Cruise have announced the formation of WOMEN’S WRESTLING ARMY, a new women’s wrestling promotion that is set to debut soon. The WWA’s first live event is May 1st at Fete Music Hall in Providence, RI. Tickets are available at shopiwtv.com The project will come complete with episodes featuring original matchups, exclusive interviews, and behind-the-scenes access. A steady stream of mini documentaries for the new promotion will also be included which will be based off of the same vision as the highly successful 2021 “This Is Women’s Wrestling” documentary that received rave reviews. In 2021, ROH Women’s Division content received some of the highest views throughout the year on the ROH YouTube channel and it was regarded as the best year of women’s wrestling in the 20-year history of ROH. Kanellis-Bennett promises “names you know” in a free-wheeling brand of action-packed matches while also giving more opportunities to deserving athletes. Plus, for the first time in the history of professional wrestling, the grapplers themselves will share in the success of the promotion in a ground-breaking, pioneering profit-sharing plan. As Kanellis-Bennett said, “We’re moving forward with this new project where the competitors will all profit from its success. They will own a part of the company and receive residual income for every appearance. These women have worked hard in the ring, suffered injury, wrestled hurt, and bled for the passion that they have for professional wrestling. This time, each bump will mean something extra. They will, in effect, own their pains and successes.” The ongoing docs will showcase raw slices of real-life wrestling with no artifice, keying in on the grueling but rewarding life they’ve chosen. Behind-the-scenes footage will be mixed with direct quotes and insider information. Cruise adds that Women’s Wrestling Army will be a collaborative effort with hopes of working with other promotions to further women’s wrestling and opportunities for its athletes. “We have had preliminary discussions with other companies about working together regarding talent and title defenses as part of Women’s Wrestling Army content and we hope to talk to more promotions as well regarding working agreements”, Cruise said. He added, “We are in no way looking to be a solo act. We would love to collaborate with other companies. We just want this new venture to find its niche and audience while also doing it in the most talent friendly way we can.” Kanellis-Bennett and Cruise are still both very active in the current wrestling landscape with Maria appearing in IMPACT Wrestling and Cruise continuing his role as ROH ring announcer under the exciting new ownership of Tony Khan. “This new project is a complete separate entity from anything else Maria & I do within the wrestling business. and it will be in addition to other work that we may be doing for other companies. This will, in fact, be an addition to our schedules. It’s in no way a replacement for our other jobs within wrestling.” Maria Kanellis-Bennett is an icon who has been entertaining her many fans for two decades as a model, actor, dancer, singer, pro wrestler, manager, and commentator. She has seen action in IMPACT Wrestling (formerly TNA), Ring Of Honor, NJPW, and WWE. Her 2008 Playboy magazine pictorial and her 2010 appearances on Celebrity Apprentice proved her versatility. Maria is now a mother of 2 young children and wife to Impact wrestler Mike Bennett. There is nothing this wonder woman cannot do. Bobby Cruise has served as the Lead Ring Announcer for ROH since November of 2004. Kanellis-Bennett and Cruise are available for interviews.
